Dr. Donald A. (Tony) Smith, M.D.


Dr. Smith attended both the University of Kentucky College of agriculture and the University of Louisville College of Arts and Sciences for his undergraduate education, receiving his B.A. in Biology from the latter. His medical degree, Internship, and ophthalmology residency were also at the University of Louisville. He became board certified in Ophthalmology in 1994, and he serves as Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Louisville. Dr. Smith has lived and practiced in Elizabethtown since 1992.

Dr. Smith has over twenty years’ experience with Laser Vision Correction, including All – Laser LASIK. He also specializes in Small Incision, Sutureless Cataract Surgery, treatment of Glaucoma, and Macular Degeneration.


Dr. Benjamin Proctor, M.D.


Dr. Proctor received his B.A. Degree in Mathematics from Transylvania University and received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky. He completed a Preliminary Surgery internship at the University of Kentucky, followed by residency in Ophthalmology also at the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Proctor is Board Certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Proctor’s specialties include all Laser LASIK Surgeries, Small Incision, Sutureless Cataract Surgery, Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and Pediatrics.


Dr. Sarah Rae Byrd, O.D.


Dr. Sarah Rae Byrd is a graduate of Transylvania University where she received her B.A. degree in Chemistry and Biology. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree through Indiana University, where she graduated with highest honors and completed externships at Ireland Army Community Hospital in Fort Knox and Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates in Charlotte, North Carolina. She also completed an optometry residency in ocular disease and low vision at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Dr. Byrd is a member of the Kentucky Optometric Association.
